Joint Establishment of a Venture Capital Company
--Formation of a Fund Specializing in Mobile Communications and Internet Businesses--
NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. ("NTT DoCoMo"), IBJ Securities Co., Ltd. ("IBJS"), Internet Research Institute, Inc. ("IRI"), and Ikuo Nishioka, former Chairman of Intel K.K., have agreed to jointly establish a venture capital company (the "Company") to invest in mobile communications, internet and related businesses. A Memorandum of Understanding was concluded on October 14, 1999, and the Company is scheduled to be established at the end of October 1999. The Company plans to raise a fund to invest in mobile communications, Internet and related businesses by the end of this year with investment to start in January 2000. The Company, through the fund, will provide financial and managerial support to venture businesses engaged in developing technologies, content and services in mobile communications and Internet businesses. By assisting growth of the venture businesses which are expected to play an important role in the advanced technology area of the Japanese economy in the 21st century, the Company aims to contribute to the development of Japan's mobile communications and Internet industry.
