Silicon Valley has evolved its own unique financial infrastructure,
with entrepreneurs, angels, venture capitalists and investment
banks coming together organically to produce successful high-tech
start-ups. The business environment in Japan is different to
that of the United States. In Japan new businesses grow from
entrepreneurship within a corporate context, seldom from the
solitary efforts of individual entrepreneurs. At Mobile Internet
Capital our mission is to nurture successful venture businesses
by providing a unique financial infrastructure appropriate to
the Japanese environment.
We act as an investor and advisor, providing active managerial
and financial support for Japanese ventures. We also act as
a local partner, helping overseas companies establish
new businesses in the Japanese market. We act, too, as an information
hub, using our network to enhance the growth potential of
the businesses we invest in by match making with large corporates'
IT business expansion requirements, or by establishing new businesses
outright. Our investment strategy is based on five principles.
Technology Focus
We focus investments on a single area - mobile communications
and the internet.
Geographical Focus
We focus on businesses that serve the Japanese market.
Note that this includes non-Japanese companies seeking
business opportunities in Japan and Japanese companies
seeking opportunities overseas.
Specialist Technology Evaluation
We benefit from the professional engineering and technical
advice of NTT group companies.
Finding the right business
We make effective use of the knowledge and contact networks
of our corporate shareholders (NTT DoCoMo / IRI / Mizuho
Securities) as well as our 35 corporate investors.
Emphasis on business incubation
Venture businesses we invest in can expect active, hands-on
support not only from our professional staff, but also
from our 3 shareholders and 35 corporate investors, a
true cross-section of 'Japan Inc.'.
